Dr. Young is one of the nation's most experienced board certified cataract surgeons, having personally performed over 50,000 cataract procedures during his 30+ years of medical practice.
Dr. Young is a Board Certified Member of the American Board of Ophthalmology, a Fellow in the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and member of the American Medical Association, American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons, Outpatient Ophthalmic Surgical Society, Oklahoma State Medical Association and Oklahoma Academy of Ophthalmology.
He has served as a past President of the Comanche-Cotton-Tillman Medical Association and is a past recipient of the Physician's Recognition Award from the American Medical Association.
Dr. Young has once again been recognized as one of "America's Top Ophthalmologists" by the Consumers' Research Council of America in 2019.
As Founder & Medical Director of the Young Eye Institute, Dr. Young has been instrumental in bringing advanced vision care procedures to Southwest Oklahoma and North Texas residents. This includes being one of the first in the state to perform one-stitch, no-stitch and no-shot cataract surgery.
As Medical Director of The Cataract Center of Lawton, Dr. Young specializes in small incision cataract surgery.
He works extensively with Advanced Technology Lens Implants and is also one of the first cataract surgeons in the nation to provide Laser Cataract Surgery using the ALCON LenSx® Laser system. He is also one of the first surgeons in Oklahoma to offer patients the Alcon AcrySoft® IQ PanOptix® lens implant for better vision. Combined, these advanced cataract procedures can provide our patients the ability to see clearly without glasses after cataract surgery.
Dr. Young has traveled extensively, both nationally and internationally to study and to teach advanced ophthalmic surgical procedures. He has personally authored articles on these processes, instructed at professional meetings, and was a featured speaker at the National Symposium on Cornea & Refractive Surgery in New Delhi, India.
Dr. Hopkins has served as the Clinical Services Director for over 25 years with the Young Eye Institute. He specializes in ocular diseases, pre- and post-operative surgical care and anterior laser microsurgery.
After receiving his Bachelor Degree in Biology from Oklahoma State University, Dr. Hopkins received his Doctorate of Optometry from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. He graduated with honors, and due to his outstanding scholastic achievements, Dr. Hopkins was awarded membership in the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Fraternity.
Dr. Hopkins is a member of the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians, the American Optometric Association, and has served as a Clinical Examiner for the National Board of Examiners in Optometry. He is licensed by the State of Oklahoma Board of Examiners in Optometry in Anterior Segment Laser Certification.
Dr. Hopkins remains very active with professional optometric organizations , and is past President of the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians.
